Retro American diner
Heliopolis, Cairo

Completed 2023
Hospitality project
Brief
A retro American diner in Heliopolis, designed and built by MAD down to the jukebox, with neon outside and strawberry pink inside. Featured by CairoScene in 2023.
The idea
California, by way of Heliopolis.
The client asked for a diner in the spirit of California’s retro classics. MAD designed the whole building to stand out: neon bands wrap the exterior, a graphite-and-white checkered floor runs through the room, and booths in blue and strawberry pink sit beneath porthole windows. The jukebox, tiles, pendants and leather upholstery were all made for the project, in the brand’s own colours.
