The seventies never left

Why European interiors of the 1960s and 70s remain one of the studio’s most trusted references.
Some decades are remembered for their furniture. The 1960s and 70s are remembered for their rooms: sunken lounges, curved walls, bold colour held by dark timber, and lighting that set a mood rather than lit a task.

MAD returns to that period not to copy it but to borrow its confidence. A games room framed by a hand-drawn mural, a record-themed corner in a restaurant, a velvet banquette in a colour most designers would avoid: each is a small argument that a room can have a personality.
The lesson the era teaches best is commitment. A room that picks a mood and holds it is remembered.
