Designing in shadow

How La Feuille Blanche turns black marble, bronze and drawn light into a home that feels calm after dark.
Most homes are designed for daylight. La Feuille Blanche, a private villa in Mivida, was designed for the hours after it.
The brief was a family home that could host formally and still feel intimate. MAD's answer was contrast. Book-matched black marble runs floor to ceiling in the lounge, warmed by timber and brushed bronze. Nothing is flooded with light; light is drawn in lines, along shelves, beneath a bar, around a fireplace, so the room reads like a gallery at night.

The ground floor moves as a sequence: a formal dining room, a faceted stone bar, a games room framed by a hand-drawn mural, and a glass lounge that opens to the garden. Upstairs, the palette softens into deep greys and leather for rooms made for rest.

Every object in the house, from the shelving to the chandelier that falls through the staircase, was chosen or made for its place. That is the point of a MAD home: nothing arrives by accident.
The villa was featured by SceneHome in 2023.
From this home, made to order: the Étagère Noire and the Cascade Chandelier. In 2022 the villa was named Best Luxury Residential Interior Design, Egypt.
